Empowering Health Choices at GKNM Hospitals Diabetes Awareness Camp
GKNM Hospital conducted a Diabetes Awareness Camp, “சக்கரைக்கு இனி அக்கறை காட்டுவோம்,” on Nov 14 & 15, which was an inspiring venue for the care, education, and community to inspire better choices for all. The initiative held at the iOP campus of the hospital provided free health check-ups, diet demonstrations, and a special stall for footwear for diabetics, thereby giving practical solutions for everyday wellness to the participants. The camp was inaugurated by Dr. Sumathi, Joint Director of Health Services, Coimbatore district, in the presence of Dr. Ragavendra, Medical Director of iOP, whose leadership underscored the hospital's commitment to preventive health.
Accompanying the event were a distinguished team of specialists: Dr. Haripriya, Consultant Ophthalmology; Dr. Muthulakshmi, Consultant Diabetology and Foot Care Specialist; Dr. Srinivasan, Consultant Diabetology and Endocrinology; Dr. Sundara Rajan, Resident Medical Officer; Dr. Mahesh Mitra, Head of Physiotherapy; Dr. Priyadarshini, Consultant Alternative Medicine; and Dr. Subramania Gandhi, Consultant Alternative Medicine.The conversion of their know-how into action on diabetes intervention processes granted the participants knowledge about medical management, lifestyle modification, physiotherapy, and alternative therapies. Whereas the camp highlighted early detection, adequate nutrition, exercise, and holistic measures, including yoga and mindfulness, for managing the condition better, thereby merging modern medicine with some complementary ones. It showcased the partnership of GKNM Hospital in advanced living. Participants departed empowered with knowledge, resources, and renewed confidence in their informed decisions, thereby raising the camp's height in preventive healthcare and community impact.
