The department of Cardiothoracic Surgery performed its first cardiac transplantation in Coimbatore in the year 2017 and has been a cardiology centre with an established heart failure clinic and a transplant program. The team at GKNM is fully equipped to handle the complete surgical treatment of cardiac transplant and heart failure including left ventricular restoration mitral repair as well as mechanical circulatory support including ECMO and VAD. Finally the gold standard Cardiac Transplantation program in GKNM is also active and our last transplant survivor has crossed 2 years. We are known for the best cardiac transplantation centre in Coimbatore. The heart transplant program and the mechanical circulatory program is managed by a team of extremely skilled professionals including Intensivists, Anesthetists, Cardiac Surgeons and Cardiologists.
