Dr. Nikhil Sanjeev. K
MBBS, MD(Paeds), DM (Adult & Pediatric Endocrinology, AIIMS)
Consultant Endocrinology & Diabetology

Biography
- Dr. Nikhil Sanjeev began his medical journey at the prestigious Madras Medical College, Chennai. His clinical exposure and internship at the Institute of Child Health and Hospital for Children, Egmore, fostered a strong interest in Paediatrics, leading him to pursue an MD in Paediatrics at Tirunelveli Medical College & Hospital (High Ground Hospital), Tirunelveli.
- During this period, he underwent extensive training in paediatrics and neonatology. It is from here, he developed a passion towards the fascinating field of endocrinology. He recognised that endocrine disorders often required referral to specialised centres, partly due to limited awareness and the relatively restricted availability of specialist endocrine services in many regions. This motivated him to pursue advanced training in Endocrinology, bridging his strong foundation in Paediatrics with the need for comprehensive endocrine care across all age groups.
- He subsequently secured a place in the INI-SS merit list for DM Endocrinology, being the only candidate from a Paediatrics background among the top 10. He went on to pursue DM training in Adult and Paediatric Endocrinology at the renowned All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Raipur.
- His clinical acumen in adult and paediatric endocrinology was shaped under the mentorship of Prof Dr Amritava Ghosh. He holds the distinction of being the first candidate to earn a DM in Endocrinology from the state of Chhattisgarh.
- His clinical interests span adult and paediatric diabetes, with expertise in comprehensive diabetes management, including diabetic foot and insulin pump therapy. His areas of clinical practice also include paediatric endocrinology, disorders of the thyroid, puberty, bone and mineral metabolism, adrenal, pituitary, reproductive endocrinology including transgender endocrinology and infertility-related endocrine disorders, obesity, and polyendocrine metabolic ovary syndrome (PMOS).
- During his postgraduate training, he was the recipient of the Dr. A. C. Ammini Award from the Endocrine Society of India and has secured prizes in several academic quiz competitions. He has presented numerous podium and poster presentations at national and international conferences and has contributed to publications in indexed journals and co-authored book chapters. He has also served as a Co-Principal Investigator for the TRANSCEND-T2D-1 clinical study evaluating Retatrutide, an investigational triple agonist therapy for obesity and metabolic disease.
- He has extensive clinical experience in managing over 4,000 patients with diabetes - including Type 1, Type 2, and gestational diabetes and a broad spectrum of thyroid disorders, including hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, thyroid nodules, and thyroid cancer, along with a wide range of other endocrine and metabolic conditions.
- With a strong foundation in both adult and paediatric medicine and specialised training in endocrinology, Dr Nikhil Sanjeev is committed to providing comprehensive, evidence-based, and patient-centred endocrine care across all age groups.
