Biography
Dr.T.Jayaprakash, is an accomplished nephrologist with expertise in the diagnosis and management of kidney diseases, dialysis therapies, and renal transplantation. He is widely recognized for his evidence-based, compassionate care and dedication to improving patient outcomes and quality of life.
His medical journey began at Madurai Medical College, where he completed his M.B.B.S. with distinctions. Demonstrating academic excellence early on, he pursued his post-graduation in General Medicine at the same institution, where he earned top merit awards in General Medicine. He also obtained the DNB in General Medicine from the National Board of Examinations, New Delhi, and subsequently served as Assistant Professor of General Medicine at Government Erode Medical College.
Deeply committed to kidney health and academic advancement, he pursued his super-specialization in Nephrology from Christian Medical College, Vellore, one of India’s premier centers for nephrology training and research. He further achieved the DrNB in Nephrology from the National Board of Examinations, New Delhi. To broaden his specialization, he completed The GlomCon Glomerular Disease Fellowship offered by The GlomCon Foundation, USA, where he gained focused expertise in glomerular diseases and complex renal disorders.
He has served as Assistant Professor and later as Associate Professor of Nephrology at Christian Medical College, Vellore, where he has contributed extensively to patient care, medical education, and research. His special interests include glomerular diseases, kidney transplantation, Onconephrology, acute and chronic kidney diseases, interventional nephrology, and dialysis care. He strives to deliver compassionate care while guiding young nephrologists toward excellence.

- Management of glomerular diseases including Nephrotic syndrome, Nephritic syndrome, Rapidly Progressive Renal Failure
- Management of systemic diseases affecting kidneys such as lupus nephritis, vasculitis and Thrombotic microangiopathies
- Pregnancy-related kidney diseases including preeclampsia, gestational hypertension, and management of chronic kidney disease in pregnancy
- Management of complex electrolyte and acid-base disorders
- Hypertension related to kidney disease
- Care of kidney transplant patients including transplantation and immunosuppression
- Onconephrology including Myeloma related kidney diseases, Renal diseases in post bone marrow/hematopoietic stem cell transplant patients
- Interventional nephrology including kidney biopsy and dialysis access management
- Treatment of kidney stones and obstructive uropathies
- Care of patients with rare and genetic kidney diseases including polycystic kidney disease
- Nutritional and supportive care for patients with kidney disease
- Critical care nephrology including management of toxicological emergencies and renal replacement therapies in ICU
- Renal Replacement/Extracorporeal Therapies – Hemodialysis, Continuous Renal Replacement therapies (CRRT), Slow continuous ultrafiltration (SCUF), and sustained low-efficiency hemodialysis (SLED), Peritoneal dialysis (CAPD), Plasmapheresis.
- Use of plasmapheresis and apheresis in treatment of autoimmune and glomerular diseases
