Cardiac anaesthesia is a sub-speciality of the Anaesthesia Department and has 4 operating rooms of which one OR is dedicated to Paediatric Cardiac cases. The cardiac anaesthesia team supports more than 1500 adult and paediatric cardiac surgeries every year. The team has 6 cardiac anaesthetists who cater to Adult cardiac surgeries such as Off pump and On pump CABGs, Valve Surgeries, Redo Surgeries, Surgeries on Aorta and Thoracic procedures.

Paediatric cardiac cases include simple and complex congenital cardiac surgeries and one anaesthetist is dedicated to the peri operative care of paediatric cases. The cardiac anaesthetists also provide anaesthesia services for interventional procedures in the Cardiac Cathetrisation Laboratory.


The cardiac theatre has state-of-the-art equipments and transesophageal echocadiography machine, with 3-D and pediatric probes. The cardiac anesthetists routinely perform intraoperative TEE to assess adequacy of surgical repair.
