Department of Neurology offers specialised treatment for all neurological disorders with the team of experienced expert neurologists.
The condition treated are stroke, epilepsy, headache,vertigo, movement disorders, neuromuscular disorders, cognitive and behavioural disorders, immune mediated neurological disorders, CNS infection and so on. Emergency neurology cases and critically ill neurology patient are treated effectively with the team of neurologists, emergency care physicians and intensivists.
Treatment & Procedures
GKNM Neurology Departement provides state of the art facility for the patients who are admitted with stroke. Stroke team is available for 24*7 hours for immediate management of acute stroke. IV thrombolysis (drug therapy to dissolve the clot in the brain blood vessels) is performed for eligible patients with ischemic stroke of less than 4.5 hours of onset. Mechanical thrombectomy (catheter guided removal of clot ) is performed by interventional radiologist for stroke patients with major vessel occlusion. Emergency DSA (cerebral angiography) and coiling is done for patients with subarachnoid bleed due to rupture of aneurysm. The stroke care provided by the GKNM Neurology Department is of world standard and updated according to scientific growth in the field of stroke. Regular auditing is performed in the department to access the timely management of stroke. Neurology Department also conducts regular stroke awareness program to create awareness among people.
