Memory Clinic For the Elderly
This is a new weekly out-patient clinic which is operational from 14th March 2019, on Thursdays and functions from 10 am to 1 pm.
This service is run by Dr. Alka Ganesh who has been practising geriatrics for many years. This new service is devoted to caring for those older people who have failing memory which is affecting their day to day functioning. This problem is known as “dementia”. There are many types of dementia, of which Alzheimer's dementia is the most common and well known.
Normal ageing also causes memory loss, but unlike the disease “dementia” this normal type of age-associated memory loss only causes frustration, but the person can function normally. This clinic is not for the memory-loss of normal ageing. However, older persons concerned about memory issues are welcome to get it checked.
