The Hospital Infection Control Committee (HICC) did organize the 6th annual hospital infection prevention week from 05th to 07th October’2017 at GKD auditorium. The theme of the year was “Sharing Knowledge and Improving Care”. Activities like game shows i.e., Right Throw on Biomedical waste segregation, Fashion Show - showcasing infection prevention and quiz competition on best practices of infection prevention and control were INFECTION PREVENTION WEEK BREAST CANCER WELLNESS PROGRAM On 14th October’2017, Campaign on Global Handwashing Day was conducted by signing on a red heart shaped chart which was pinned on the awareness banner at the hospital premises. All staff was asked to perform hand washing steps while placing their biometric presence for the day. Through this activity the Infection Control Nurses (ICN) with the help of Nurse Educators (NE) emphasized the importance of Hand Washing.
The month of October is noted as “Breast Cancer Awareness Month”. On 28th October 2017 we Coimbatore cancer foundation in association with the Valavadi Narayanaswamy Cancer Center of G. Kuppuswamy Naidu Memorial Hospital organized a wellness program for breast cancer survivors, patients and their supporters. Around 120 participants, include survivors, their caregivers, medical and para-medical professionals, counselors & general public attended the session. The program was inaugurated by Ms. Uma Maheshwari, Orator who gave a motivational speech to the audience. She stressed how mental strength helps a person conducted. It was followed by the scientifi c sessions for the hospital staff by eminent speakers. Dr.Yamuna Devi - D.A (Anaesthiesology), MD(Microbiology), Infection Control Professional from Apollo Hospitals,Chennai was the chief guest for the state level CNE program held on 6th October’ 2017. She spoke about Surveillance Methodology & Environmental Aspect in Infection Control. Finally, the three-day event concluded with prize distribution.
