The Raksha Hospice was inaugurated on 13th June 2001, by “His Holiness Sri. Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal” to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the G. Kuppusamy Naidu Memorial Hospital, and its service to community. Since then we have been providing high quality Palliative Care free of charge for cancer patients living in Coimbatore and surrounding areas.
G.Kuppuswamy Naidu Memorial Hospital had started a Rural Health Centre at the village Veerapandi, off Mettupalayam Road on 5 th May’1995. This rural health center was started to provide comprehensive health care for the villagers of Selvapuram, which is about 4 km off the main road and also to provide medical consultation and treatment for the surrounding villages.
India, where the average life expectancy is close to 70 years, faces a huge burden of communicable and non-communicable diseases – the healthcare for which is provided by a centralised model where the hospital with its full range of services acts as a one-stop destination. Though beneficial for a hospital visitor, many are at a disadvantage due to the longer travel time to seek quality basic medical care.
